TAKE PART IN KARAMOJA CULTURAL EVENT AND DIALOGUE MEETING

5th Karamoja Cultural Day Event will be celebrated in Kaabong District from 28th August to 1st September, 2018. The event organized by Karamoja Cultural Association 2018 Kaabong Chapter (KCA2018KAABONG) in Collaboration with Kaabong District Local Government and Karamoja Cultura Association (KCA).

Karamoja Dialogue meeting on 31st, August, 2018 will be held in Main Hall, Pope Paul memorial College, Kaabong Catholic Parish, Kaabong Town Council from 12:00PM to 5:00PM Ugandan time. The dialogue meeting will draw over 200 people from different parts of Karamoja including Teso and Lango community (Uganda), Turkana (Kenya), Toposa (South Sudan), Pokot and Samburu (Kenya), Masai (Tanzania and Kenya). The meeting is also attracting a number of local and international presenters and panelists who have gained interest in sharing presentations on various topics selected.

Theme of the year: With Unity and peace, we cherish our Culture for the Development of Karamoja -EMORIKINOS EKINYOMA EYOKOTAL TOPOLO KARIMOJONG

Karamoja dialogue meeting topics target participants: Peace, Security, Education, Pastoralism, Land, Tourism & Natural Resources sharing. The issues will be presented using both power point presentations and panel discussions. The participants of the Dialogue include; Elders (women and men), Students and Universities graduates, Kraal leaders, District local government representatives, NGO representatives, Ateker representatives, Religious institutions, Conservation agencies representatives, and Central Government representatives.

Interested Panelists and presenters should write their brief biography, topic and description of about 100 to 150 words, mode of presentation. KCA Kaabong Chapter and partners need more of panel discussions than power point presentations on certain topics like peace and security across border, Pastoralism and Land governance.

Entry is free of Charge for to all participants.

Summary 
 "With unity and peace, we cherish our culture for the development of Karamoja" - The fifth annual Karamoja Cultural Event 2018 will take place from 28th August to 1st September in Kaabong District in Uganda. The event is hosted by the Ateker group which comprise of Karamojong (Uganda), Turkana (Kenya), Toposa (South Sudan) and Nyangatom (Ethiopia).

The event is expected to attract delegates from East African pastoralist communities: Karamojong, Teso, Langi (Uganda), Turkana, Samburus (Kenya), Nyangatom, Borana (Ethiopia), Masai (Kenya, Tanzania) and Toposa (South Sudan).

KCA FRONT LINE MAGAZINE: CALL FOR ARTICLES 1ST MAY TO 3RD AUGUST, 2018

Karamoja region has for long been known for its extreme marginalization and poverty index. And indeed there have been many periodic severe disruptions to the survival and livelihood systems of almost all communities in the region resulting from people’s vulnerability. The growing modern cultural disparities and confusing moral values are checking the traditional and cultural practices and cherished values.

Introduction: Karamoja Cultural Association (KCA) is a cultural institution registered in Uganda and located in Karamoja region. KCA historically has been celebrated in Kampala the capital City of Uganda under the guise of the Karamoja Cultural Day out. It was later in 2014, celebrated in Moroto District of Karamoja sub region after decry from Karamoja elders and Elites.
Karamoja Cultural Association 2018 Kaabong Chapter calls for multidisciplinary class of people who have key interest to publish articles on wide range topics that are critical for achievement of sustainable development Goals. It will be peer reviewed, and published by KCA Kaabong Chapter Frontline Magazine by July, 2018.

The publication produced by KCA 2018 Kaabong Chapter will be disseminated widely across the globe and also in its website showing more visibility to the authors. The Editorial Board invites articles on the realities of Karamoja Culture. It will be disseminating Cultural information with links to peace and security in pastoral area, The state of the environment in Livestock corridors, pastoralism and culture, Culture and Conservation of wildlife, practice and policy knowledge on Culture, Culture and Gender disparities, Karimojong governance, Karamoja and Foreign Aid, Humanitarian emergencies in Karamoja, Natural resources, land and Agricultural systems in dryland areas in Karamoja. The primary findings will be used to inform current and future programmes and projects in Karamoja. Contributions from INGOs, NGOs, CBOS, FBOs, Governmental agencies, Business sector, Academia and Individual researchers are welcome. 

The publication of KCA 2018 Kaabong Chapter next edition will reflect on the Theme: With Unity and peace, we cherish our Culture for the Development of Karamoja -EMORIKINOS EKINYOMA EYOKOTAL TOPLOO KARIMOJONG

Main Thematic Topics for Articles: Culture in Karamoja, Pastoralism, Conservation (Wildlife, Forestry and Traditions), Tourism, Land Tenure in Pastoralists socities, Food Security, Livestock Markets, Mobile technology, Governance (Traditional and Formal), Humanitarian aid (Foreign Aid), Climate Change and Natural Resources, Extractives (Mineral exploration), Education in pastoralists societies, Peace and Security, tourism and Mobile Technology.

NOTE: For KCA 2018 Kaabong Chapter to publish your article small non-refundable fee of UGX100,000Shs equivalent to 28.12USD will be charged per article. The manuscripts will be published after successful review by the Karamoja Cultural Association 2018 Kaabong Chapter editorial committee and therefore the Authors shall be notified for purposes of clarity on certain information provided in the manuscripts. Articles should be linking to the theme of the event which states as: With Unity and peace, we cherish our Culture for the Development of Karamoja -EMORIKINOS EKINYOMA EYOKOTAL TOPLOO KARIMOJONG.
